Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

An opportunity is available for a full-time Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support K-5 students within a Virginia Beach area school district. This contract position runs from ASAP through June 16, 2026, with a caseload of 8 students located at the district center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in grades K-5
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to each student's needs
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers to promote student success
  • Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly

Qualifications:

  • Active Virginia Department of Education teaching certification in Deaf / Hard of Hearing education required
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably K-5 grade level
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, families, and staff
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Position Details:

  • Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours per week
  • Caseload: 8 students, all based at the district center
