Job Description

The Virginia Lottery is seeking a fun, energetic, and experienced Lottery Investigator for a part-time position located in Farmville, Virginia. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of criminal investigative techniques and practices, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. The position is responsible for conducting Lottery-related investigations involving allegations of criminal and regulatory violations, as well as background investigations of potential Lottery employees, retailers, and vendors. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Five years of experience in law enforcement with an emphasis on conducting criminal investigations. Current Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) Law Enforcement Certification. Must meet statutory minimum qualifications for law enforcement officers. Must never have been convicted of a felony, bookmaking or other forms of illegal gambling, or any crime of domestic violence. Must undergo a physical examination and pass a background investigation. Valid Virginia Driver’s License with a good driving record. Willingness to do occasional overnight travel statewide and work some irregular work schedules as needed. Preferred Qualifications: Background in conducting cyber-crime investigations. Advanced degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
