This is a full-time, four-year trust fund appointment at grade IS-11 with career ladder potential to IS-12, open to all candidates eligible to work in the United States. The position closes when the first 500 applications are received, which may be before the listed deadline. The role reports to the Associate Director for Content and Interpretation.The curator will apply an interdisciplinary lens spanning history, cultural studies, and contemporary society to further the museum’s collection holdings and foster community-centered engagement. Responsibilities include advancing the museum’s strategic and interpretive plans, studying Latino contributions to US history, culture, and science, identifying and researching potential acquisitions, developing gallery and digital exhibitions, producing books, articles, public programs, podcasts, and blogs, maintaining physical and intellectual care of collections, and collaborating with curatorial, collections, education, digital, and exhibit design teams.Requirements:* Degree in museum work or an applicable subject-matter field, or equivalent experience* One year of specialized experience at or above IS-9 level including scholarly knowledge of Latino contributions to US art, history, culture, and science* Advanced degree in interdisciplinary studies covering history, foodways, art, or cultural studies preferred* Knowledge of American Latino history and familiarity with diverse perspectives within the field* Ability to conduct primary and community-based research* Experience developing exhibition scripts and public programming* Ability to communicate in written and spoken English and Spanish preferred* Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds unassisted and stand for long periodsCompensation: Trust fund benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance, transit benefits, childcare, annual and sick leave, 403b retirement plan, and flexible spending accounts.Note: this position closes when 500 applications are received, which may be before the listed deadline. #J-18808-Ljbffr
