Payroll & Accounting Specialist

Location: Reno, PA
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday

Job Summary

Klapec Trucking Company is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll & Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time while supporting day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience with payroll systems and accounting software.

Key Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for drivers and office staff accurately and on schedule.
• Verify driver pay, mileage, detention, layover, bonuses, and deductions.
• Maintain employee payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and benefits.
• Prepare and reconcile payroll reports and tax filings.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Support financial reporting and budgeting activities.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
• Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of payroll and accounting experience.
• Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and accounting principles.
• Experience with payroll software and accounting systems.
• Experience with MS Dynamics Great Plains and SSRS Reporting would be a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Experience in the trucking or transportation industry is strongly preferred.
