CHA is hiring a highly motivated, creative and flexible peer support specialist to work within various settings including clinics, community, detention center and harm reduction wellness clinic.
Primary Responsibilities: - Provide case management
- Follow peer support code of ethics
- Conduct intakes and enrollment activities
- Develop care plans for clients
- Assist team with daily data tracking and monthly reports
- Document appropriately in electronic health record
- Assist with client needs and goals
- Accompany clients to meetings and participate in meetings of community groups to advocate for client needs
Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Certified as a Peer Support Specialist or currently working toward certification as a Peer Support Specialist by the governing agency required. Must be over the age of 18 and living in recovery from mental health/substance use disorder or lived incarceration experience. Prior case management experience preferred.
License: Valid NC driver's license. Certified Peer Support Certification, CPR certification desired.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Ability to provide a non-judgmental environment while treating others with compassion, respect, and kindness
- Possess ability to maintain integrity reflected through being trustworthy, genuine, and self-aware
- Must be able to establish safe, honest relationships that honor clear and healthy professional boundaries
- Must have computer skills, good communication skills, and be proficient in motivational interviewing as well as active listening
- Ability to be flexible, work independently, work as part of a team, and possess good decision-making skills
- Must be comfortable discussing social, substance-related, and other harm reduction issues and experiences in a professional and non-judgmental manner
- General knowledge of harm reduction principles and syringe exchange laws
