Job Summary

We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Pharmacist. You will prepare and dispense medications, review medication orders for accuracy and safety, monitor drug therapy, provide drug information, and support quality patient care in a hospital setting.

 

Job Description

• Fills prescriptions and patient orders, resolves discrepancies in patient therapy, and follows-up on problems.
• Utilizes clinical data in evaluating physician orders to ensure appropriate therapy.
• Provides and documents drug information and patient counseling.
• Documents interventions, adverse drug reactions (ADRs), and medication errors.
• Directs and utilizes personnel including technicians, aides and clerical staff.
• Assists in the monthly inspection of the patient care units and the Pharmacy.
• Maintains adequate medication supply in individual work area.
• Participates in Pharmacy staff in-services and meetings relating to Systemwide and/or health care setting programs.
• Operates and troubleshoots automated dispensing systems, as needed.
• Advises prescribers on alternatives for non-formulary drugs.
• Utilizes Outpatient and Inpatient computerized systems to enter and access patient care information.
• Coordinates and analyzes statistics and/or clinical data.
• Participates in quality management and utilization review programs.
• May coordinate the work of a small group to accomplish a project or assignment.
• May participate in the preparation and review of policies and procedures.
• May assist in the development, implementation and execution of Pharmacy staff training curriculum.
• In the absence of the supervisor, may assist in the supervision of a Pharmacy unit or function.

 

Skills Required

• 1+ year of Pharmacist experience
• Inpatient pharmacy experience preferred; retail pharmacy experience will also be considered.
• Pharmacy dispensing system experience, Sterile Processing experience, IV room experience, knowledge of an EMR (Electronic Medical Records system) preferred.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in pharmacy.
• Valid license to practice as a pharmacist issued by NYSED, Primary Source Verification required.

 

Additional Requirements

• Schedule Notes: varied shifts which include 3:30pm-12mn and 12mn to 8:30am

 

  Pay Rate

• $76 - $89 per hour, based on experience, skills, and market factors
