School Counselor (Part-Time)

STEAMspark is seeking a compassionate, proactive, and student-centered School Counselor to support the social-emotional growth and well-being of our Elementary and Middle School students. This position is ideal for a counselor who understands the unique needs of gifted, advanced, and high-achieving learners within a collaborative Montessori and STEAM integrated environment. As School Counselor, you will work closely with school leadership, educators, and families to foster a positive, emotionally safe, and supportive learning environment. This role is ideal for a counselor who values proactive student support, strong family partnerships, and a whole-child approach to education.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Support & Counseling

• Provide social-emotional support and counseling services for Elementary and Middle School students.
• Conduct individual, small-group, and classroom guidance sessions.
• Support students experiencing anxiety, peer conflict, stress, emotional dysregulation, or executive functioning challenges.
• Help students develop healthy interpersonal relationships, self-advocacy skills, and conflict-resolution strategies.
• Provide proactive emotional support for students navigating academic rigor, perfectionism, and high personal expectations.

Family Partnership & Collaboration

• Partner closely with families through proactive communication, transparency, and collaboration.
• Collaborate with faculty and leadership to support student growth and well-being.
• Assist in developing student support plans and wellness initiatives.
• Serve as a resource to families and staff regarding social-emotional development and student needs.

School Culture & Wellness

• Promote resilience, leadership, character development, and healthy peer relationships.
• Foster a culture of emotional wellness, kindness, belonging, and respect.
• Help cultivate a positive, inclusive, and emotionally safe campus culture.
• Support the school's mission and Montessori philosophy through relationship-centered practices.

Documentation & Professional Practice

• Maintain appropriate documentation, records, and confidentiality standards.
• Follow ethical and professional counseling practices.
• Participate in school meetings, professional development, and collaborative planning.

Required Qualifications (What We're Looking For):

• Master's degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
• Valid counseling certification or licensure preferred.
• Experience working with Elementary and/or Middle School students required.
• Strong understanding of child development, SEL practices, and executive functioning support.
• Exceptional communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
• High level of professionalism, emotional intelligence, and discretion.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting gifted, talented, advanced, or high-achieving learners.
• Strong understanding of the social-emotional needs of gifted students.
• Montessori training or openness to Montessori philosophy.
• Experience working within a high-performing or academically rigorous school environment.

Compensation & Benefits

• $65 to $95 per hour
